The Ladies start their season with an away game to Half Century. Majority of players were on time for meet time while the usual suspects were late.

During the warm up, the girls were confused by Leanne leading us the wrong way round the pitch for the run. Many strong shots at the brick wall which is Alex.

Half Century to start with the ball. Early pressure was applied from the whole team, especially from Emily Chapman and Jane Valentino in the inside forward positions.
While in position of the ball, Wellingborough were able to move the ball around in triangles and find the gaps on the pitch. Going forward, Ellie (also known as Bambi) galloped down the line, winning a free hit just outside the D. Taken by Jo Chapman, the ladies were able work their way into the D to win their first short corner.
Injection by Georgia Francis (Gee), out to Kazza who was able to give the ball back to Georgia, whose tomahawk sent the ball over the bar. Boro continued to attack down the wings with Evie Chapman and Georgia Atkinson. Half Century were able to break through and win themselves a short corner. Wellingborough set their defensive unit and even with Rachel running out they were able to get a shot away but just wide. Kazza and Cathy using their confidence on the ball to play the ball around the back and allow the girls to play down the width of the pitch.

Umpires called half time with the score at 0-0. Coach Colyn gave an inspirational team talk with positives and things to take into the second half.

Second half starts with a Boro pushback. The triangular passing was continued with the drive forward to win a further 3 short corners this half. Injection from Emily Chapman, with a slip left and a back post deflection from Elise saw Boro go one ahead. Half Century were able to gain themselves a short corner which was defended well. Jazz found herself in a large amount of space and was able to nail a ball into the D where Elise was waiting and deflected the ball into the goal to make the score 2-0. Boro did find themselves defending towards the end stages of the game as legs began to tire and Half Century were able to make attacking efforts into the D but the ladies did there defensive work. Final whistle… Wellingborough 2, Half Century 0.
